We had the pleasure of working with Seiya agency once again for their client Prada. Our task was to create 3D animations of a concept they developed for Valentine's Day, which was based on a labyrinth shaped like a heart.
The Labyrinth and Prada Products
In the films, we follow a metal ball as it moves inside the heart-shaped labyrinth, encountering iconic Prada products along the way, including Luna Rossa, Paradoxe, Iris, and Candy. When the ball hits the products, a beautiful colored light is created around them, highlighting the product's main color.
To move the ball, the labyrinth pivots on different axes, and the ball moves according to where the labyrinth is tilting. This was inspired by real-life games that work in a similar way.
We revealed the heart-shaped labyrinth in the final top-shot of the film, making the connection with Valentine's Day.
The Technical Details
To create a photorealistic look for the products, we used Arnold Render in Cinema 4D, which allowed us to render out beautiful high-quality 3D visuals. We then did the compositing and color effects in Nuke, which allowed us to perfect the final visuals to match the client expectations.
Customized Animations and Ratios
We had to create different versions of the animation, with different product combinations at the end of the film, and in multiple ratios (16/9, 9/16, 1/1, and 4/5). We created custom cameras and renders for the different ratios, to ensure that the shots looked good in all versions.
